The Searchers (1950)
John Ford's hugely influential western. Stunning cinematography against which John Wayne gives a monumental performance as the tragically flawed protagonist, Ethan Edwards. (1956, Cert U)

It's not just cowboys and Indians! This evening's screening will be preceded by a brief introduction to The Searchers and the western in general, by local film academic and writer David Lusted, author of "The Western" (2003, Longman).
